Fleet Foxes

Music has the power to take you to different places and times. The Fleet Foxes' self-titled first full length album does that in spades. This Seattle five-piece brings me not to the coffee shops and rain you might expect from a Seattle band but rather the mountains and lowlands of the South. The Fleet Foxes have crafted an album of wonderful vocal harmonizing and powerful songwriting able to transport you anywhere. Stand out tracks include: White Winter Hymnal, Meadowlarks, Blue Ridge Mountains, to name a few. This is a great nightime/study album. Their unique blend of voices immediately draw comparisons with Crosby, Stills and Nash. This band is a nice change of pace and a breath of fresh air in the sometimes repetitive world of indie music. Do yourself a favor and pick this album up.

I just discovered this band recently and I love it! They're supposed to be coming to the Howlin' Wolf in NOLA at the end of the month.
